Gabriel Savini Obituary
Gabriel M. Savini, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday October 22, 2010 at his residence in Gilpin Hall, Wilmington, DE.
Born in Lebanon, PA, Mr. Savini was the son of the late Anthony and Antoinette (Nori) Savini. He served our country during WWII in the U.S. Army. Following his military duty he was employed at the DuPont Experimental Station as a Chemical Operator and retired after 30 years of service. Mr. Savini was formerly of Maplecrest, and past member of its civic association. He was a member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church where he volunteered for many years for the church's carnival. He was a past member of the Mid-County Senior Center. Mr. Savini loved to play music especially the harmonica, accordion and the piano, and often played at several local nursing homes. He was a die hard Philadelphia Phillies fan.
Mr. Savini is survived by two sons: Anthony Savini and his wife Paula of Landenberg, PA, Gabriel J. Savini and his wife Karen of Wilmington, DE, his grandchildren: Jana Savini, Stephanie Savini, Michael Savini, Philip Savini and Jennifer Hutchinson and her husband Tom, his great-grandchildren: Autumn Moore and Jillian Savini, his brother: Louis Savini of Dover, DE, a sister: Ada Savini of Kennett Square, PA. He was predeceased by his wife Carmela M. Savini (Mele) in 1999, his daughter: Patricia Savini in 1976 and his sister: Caroline Savini in 1981.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday October 27, at Saint John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE. Interment will follow in the All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Tuesday October 26, from 6 to 8 pm.
